Geleceğe yönelik mekansal planlamanın verilerden bağımsız yapılamayacağı açıktır. Bu çalışmada geleceğin dayanıklı şehirlerinin temelini oluşturacak inşaat alanı artışı, yeşil alan değişiklikleri, nem ve aşırı yaz sıcaklıkları arasındaki ilişkilere dayanarak gelecekteki eğilimleri tahmin eden bir 'akıllı planlama sistemi' geliştirildi. Başlangıçta, 2012-2021 yılları arasında Türkiye'nin başkenti Ankara'nın Etimesgut İlçesi'ndeki dört mahalleden inşaat, nem, yeşil alan ve sıcaklık verileri toplanıp analiz edildi. Bu verilerin arasındaki ilişti tespit edildi. Sonuçlar, artan inşaatların yaz sıcaklıklarında ve nemde artışlara yol açtığını gösterdi. Çalışmanın ikinci aşamasında Python'da 'akıllı planlama sistemi' adı verilen ve ilk aşamada elde edilen veriler arasındaki ilişkilere dayanarak geleceğe yönelik tahminler yapan bir yazılım oluşturuldu. Bu yazılım, kente yönelik farklı müdahalelerin sonuçlarını ve büyüyen kentsel alanlarda inşaatın etkilerini öngörmenin mümkün olduğunu gösterdi. Sonuç olarak, iklimsel ve çevresel olumsuz etkileri önleyecek çözümler bulmanın mümkün olduğu ve böylece sürdürülebilir şehirlerin ulaşılabilir hale getirildiği ortaya konuldu.
