Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
Authorship and Contribution
Authorship status must be limited to individuals who have significant contributions to the concept, design, implementation, or interpretation of a study. All individuals with significant contributions must be listed among the authors. If there are individuals with limited contributions to the study, such as those who format the language of the manuscript, they must be mentioned in the Acknowledgment section. The corresponding author must make sure that all listed authors have seen and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its publication. Authors are expected to carefully review the list and order of all contributing authors before submission and provide the final list of authors at the time of their original submission. The Editor shall allow the addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names after the submission of a manuscript only in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, all authors must agree to the addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names. All authors have shared responsibility for the work.
Requests for Authorship Changes
The addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names on the list of authors will only be considered before the acceptance of the manuscript and upon the approval of the Editor. When such a request is received, the Editor requests the corresponding author to provide (a) the reason(s) for the proposed change and (b) the written permission (e-mail) of all authors that they accept the decision. The Editor shall consider the addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names after the acceptance of the manuscript only in exceptional circumstances.
Writing
The subject of an original research article must be reported in an authentic manner along with an objective discussion. The article must include sufficient details and references to allow others to replicate the study in question. Fraudulent or deliberately misleading statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Authenticity
The author(s) must guarantee that the manuscript is original, it has not been published elsewhere, and it is not under review for publication on another platform or in another language.
Original Source Usage and References
The author(s) must make sure that they have written a completely authentic manuscript. If they have used the works or statements of others, they must make sure that they have cited these works or statements appropriately. Privately obtained information such as that in conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties must not be used without the explicit and written permission of the source.
Data Access and Storage
The author(s) may be requested to provide data supporting the research they are reporting and/or comply with the open-access requirements of the journal. If applicable, the author(s) must be prepared to open such data to public access and keep such data for a reasonable period after publication. Our journal recommends that research data be uploaded to the Aperta Portal of the Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
Duplicate and Redundant Publications
An author must not publish their article reporting the same study in multiple journals. The simultaneous submission of the same article to multiple journals constitutes unethical behavior. An author must not submit a previously published article to review by another journal unless it has been published only as an abstract.
Publications of Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews
Ethics committee approval must be obtained for all studies in all scientific fields that require ethics committee approval. This approval must be reported in the manuscript, and it must be documented. For studies requiring ethics committee approval, approval information (ethics committee name, decision date, and decision number) must be included in the Materials and Methods section of the text. Additionally, information about the signing of an informed permission/consent form must be included on either the first or last page of the manuscript for case reports.
Conflicts of Interest
Conflicts of interest pertain to all financial or other interests that may lead to a dilemma in the person’s conduct, significantly impair their objectivity, or result in an unfair advantage for any person or organization. The sources of all financial support received during the preparation of the manuscript and the roles of all sponsors in the study must be disclosed. If no funding has been received, this must also be stated. Examples of potential conflicts of interest that must be disclosed include counseling positions, salaries, and grants. Potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the earliest stage possible.
Error Reporting
If an author notices a significant error or inaccuracy in their published study, they must notify the journal immediately. The author is also responsible for cooperating with the journal for a retraction or correction if considered necessary by the Editor.
Visual Integrity
Enhancing, obscuring, displacing, removing, or adding a certain feature in a visual is unacceptable. The author(s) must comply with the policy determined by the journal for graphical elements.
